The Diocese of Cairns has established the Professional Standards and Safeguarding Office (PSSO) to offer guidance, support, and services to clergy, executives, principals, and managers in areas related to professional conduct, ethical practices, child safeguarding, and the protection of at-risk adults. The PSSO also oversees complaint management and internal investigations to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and safeguarding within Catholic organisations.
We are currently seeking an experienced Diocesan Senior Safeguarding Officer. In this role, you will collaborate with the Diocesan Safeguarding Coordinator to provide consultative services on child protection, reporting child sexual abuse, and managing at-risk adults, predominately for Catholic Early Learning (CELC) and Centacare FNQ.
Under the supervision of the Safeguarding Coordinator, the Senior Safeguarding Officer will support the implementation of safeguarding requirements aligned with the National Catholic Safeguarding Standards and will work alongside the Safeguarding Coordinator in various areas across the Diocese, including other business entities, parishes, ministries, and church activities as needed.
This position is ideal for highly motivated individuals passionate about child protection, justice, compliance, and community engagement. Effective communication, consultation, and practical support are essential for achieving the objectives of this role.

About the Role
The Diocesan Outreach & Mission Services (DOMS) department is seeking a skilled State School Religious Instruction (SSRI) Coordinator to lead the delivery of Religious Instruction classes to students in Education Queensland State Schools across the Diocese. This involves the coordination of the approved program, the volunteer Religious Instructors and the teaching of Religious Instruction.
Reporting to the Director – DOMS, the SSRI Coordinator must have experience in teaching religious education or instruction and is required to demonstrate a commitment to the Catholic beliefs, culture and ethos in the catholic faith and practice. You must have an ability to communicate and engage effectively with all stakeholders.
