An opportunity exists for a skilled and motivated Finance Officer to fulfill a short-term contract to support the finance team operations. The position will provide a range of finance functions including recording, reconciling and reporting of all delegated financial accounts, and providing support to Diocesan departments, parishes and clergy on financial related information, systems and data. Reporting to the Finance Manager, the successful applicant will demonstrate good knowledge and understanding of accounting procedures and principles, have excellent communication skills and thrive in a team environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office products & accounting software is essential!

About the Role
The St Thomas of Villanova Church, Mareeba, is seeking a skilled Administration Officer to provide secretarial, reception and administrative support for the Mareeba Parish and other parishes including Kuranda and Dimbulah.
Reporting to the Parish Priest, the Administration Officer will be the first point of contact to the parish community, showing exceptional communication skills and empathy while ensuring all people feel welcome. Amongst other duties the incumbent will manage church bookings, maintain databases and registers, produce the weekly bulletins and liturgical materials, undertake general office responsibilities and support volunteer participation and record keeping.
The ability to maintain the strictest of privacy and confidentiality and understanding of the Catholic Church and Sacraments (Baptism, Confirmation, reception of Holy Communion, Weddings etc), is essential. Experience in the use of Microsoft Office programs including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook is vital to the role.
