In 1994, with the 50th anniversary of the Battle of the Coral Sea and the end of WWII approaching, the Peace Windows project was undertaken by local artists, Gerry Cummins and Jill Stehn.
The resulting 60sqm of glass was installed at the Abbott Street end of the Cathedral ready for the anniversary celebrations in 1995. The artists then started on the massive undertaking of the remainder 240sq for the Creation Windows.
