Rosies - Friends on the Street reaches out to those most in need, those people who are lonely, abandoned, and marginalised within our communities.
While many organisations are increasingly providing awareness, support, and referral, the greater human need is the need for friendship and unconditional acceptance during difficult times. The wonderful Rosie’s volunteers aim to do just that, providing a community of friendship and belonging.
Over 95% of Rosie’s work is funded through kind donations from our local community, and they need your help with several new initiatives to support our Cairns homeless:
- Pot-to-Pot: A family is invited to take a large pot and return it each month with a Hot Meal. The family supplies the meal only, and the Rosie’s Volunteers will put in into containers. The family isn’t required to serve the meals, only to supply and deliver it around 6pm on a Thursday, Friday, Saturday or Sunday evening to Rosies HQ, 22 Aplin St., Cairns
- We would also appreciate any semi-retired people who could spare an hour or so a week for “Go-phering” duties.
- Are there any folks who would be available to make up say 5 or more loaves of sandwiches with a variety of fillings, for Saturday and Sundays, and during the School holidays.
