At their meeting this week, the Bishops of Queensland decided to appoint Fr Neil Muir of Cairns as Rector of Holy Spirit Seminary to succeed Monsignor John Grace who will finish at the end of this year.
Fr Muir is currently Moderator of the Curia, Chancellor and Episcopal Vicar for Finance & Administration and Education in the Diocese of Cairns. He is also the Parish Priest of Parramatta Park, Administrator of the Cathedral and North Cairns Parishes and Dean of the Northern Deanery. He has a Masters in Theology from Heythrop College, London.
Fr Muir will begin preparing for his new role from I July 2021 and will assume the role on 1 January 2022.
The Bishops are grateful to Fr Muir for his generosity in accepting their invitation to serve as Rector, and we thank Bishop Foley for his generosity in agreeing to release him. We also wish to express our gratitude to Monsignor Grace for all that he has given in his years as Rector.
