OUTCOMES OF FIRST SIX PLENARY COUNCIL VOTES ANNOUNCED

The outcome of the initial rounds of voting for the Fifth Plenary Council of Australia have been announced, with all relevant motions being passed with a qualified majority.

Over the past 24 hours, Members of the Plenary Council voted on six motions from the Motions and Amendments document. The voting was staged over two rounds – the consultative and deliberative votes.

Prior to voting, the Members agreed on three amendments. The amended motions can be found online.

For a motion to pass, it must achieve a two-thirds majority – known as a “qualified majority” –in the deliberative round.

General Introduction

Motion 0.1 did not achieve a qualified majority in the consultative round. It achieved a qualified majority in the deliberative round, and was therefore passed.

Part 1: Reconciliation: Healing Wounds, Receiving Gifts

Motions 1.1, 1.2 and 1.3 all achieved a qualified majority in both the consultative and deliberative rounds, and were therefore passed.

Part 2: Choosing Repentance – Seeking Healing

Motions 2.1 and 2.2 both achieved a qualified majority in both the consultative and deliberative rounds, and were therefore passed.

The outcomes of the votes for the remaining motions during the week will be published at 1pm AEST.

The full details of the votes can be found online at the Motions and Voting page of the Plenary Council website.
