Cairns Catholic Youth Ministry

Helping young people grow in faith, friendship, and purpose across the Diocese of Cairns.

Cairns Catholic Youth Ministry encourages and supports young people in the life of the Church.

Our vision is guided by the Australian Catholic Bishops’ goals for comprehensive youth ministry, which are:

  • To foster the personal and spiritual growth of each young person
  • To draw young people into responsible participation in the life, mission, and work of the Catholic faith community
  • To empower young people to live as disciples of Jesus Christ in our world today.

Local Youth Groups

Ablaze Young Adult’s Group, Northern Beaches Parish

Ablaze Youth (Year 7 to Year 12) is held at Holy Cross Parish every second Friday of the month from 6:30pm to 8:15pm. The first Friday is Content Night, where participants explore topics such as the sacraments, Church history, and key questions of faith (e.g. What is faith?). All teaching is overseen by Parish Priest, Fr Dariusz, ensuring it remains true to the Catholic faith. Evenings include food, games, activities, small groups, and opportunities to connect with other Catholic youth. The second Friday is Adoration Night, featuring a talk or personal faith testimony. It also includes Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and the opportunity for Confession, with music or silence for prayer, providing space to gather and honour the Lord together.

Ablaze Young Adults Dinner (ages 18 to 35) is a monthly event, usually held on the third Saturday. Participants attend the 6pm Vigil Mass before gathering at a leader’s home or a restaurant for dinner and fellowship. The evening offers a relaxed environment to share a meal, build friendships, explore the faith, and connect with other Catholic young adults.
