Like windows 2 and 4, the dominant theme of this window is the Pillars of Creation. The Hubble Space Telescope has provided us with a striking image of the three pillars of dust from the heart of the "Eagle" nebula, where stars are being born.
Not only are these images scientifically accurate, they hint at the presence of the Triune Creator God: the imposing figures of God as Father, the corporeal figure of the Son, and the wispy ethereal shape of the Spirit.
God said, 'Let there be a vault in the waters to divide the waters in two'. And so it was. God made the vault and it divided the waters above the vault from the waters under the vault. God called the vault 'heaven'.
(Genesis 1/6-8)
Behind these figures is a red band of photo-ionised hydrogen in which is the "Horsehead" nebula shown at the top of the pane.
