This Easter season marks a meaningful moment for Catholics living across the Pilbara, with Mass for You at Home now being broadcast in the region for the first time on 29 March, the start of Holy Week.
From Palm Sunday, the much‑loved television Mass will air on Ngaarda TV, helping people across this vast and remote part of Western Australia remain connected to the Eucharist and to the life of the Church. For many communities where geography, health, or circumstance can make regular attendance at Mass difficult, this broadcast offers a valuable way to pray and worship together.
Mass for You at Home has been a trusted source of spiritual support for Australians since 1971, particularly for those who are sick, housebound, elderly, living in care facilities, or in places where access to regular liturgy is limited. Its expansion to the Pilbara reflects the Church’s ongoing commitment to ensuring no one is excluded from the rhythms of faith simply because of distance.
The program is produced by the Catholic Diocese of Wollongong and managed by the Australian Catholic Bishops Conference, in partnership with communities who understand the unique needs and culture of the region. It is also recognized for its inclusive approach, including AUSLAN interpretation and accessibility for diverse audiences.
This development is a reminder of the Church’s mission to walk alongside people wherever they are, particularly in Australia’s most remote communities, sharing the hope and comfort of the risen Christ.
