We are deeply saddened to announce the death of Fr Ivan Hernon, retired priest of the Diocese of Cairns, who entered eternal life on 1 January 2026.
Ordained on 29 June 1955 at St Stephen’s Cathedral, Brisbane, Fr Ivan served faithfully for over 45 years across parishes from Malanda to Cairns and south of Tully. He is remembered for his unwavering pastoral care, dedication to the mission of the Church, and love for the Gospel.
Funeral: Friday 16 January, 10am at St Vincent’s Aged Care, 736 Beams Rd, Carseldine, Brisbane.
Memorial Mass: Thursday 22 January, 6pm at St Monica’s Cathedral, Cairns, celebrated by Bishop Joe and the clergy.
