The final Mass at Christ the King Church, Mourilyan, was a deeply meaningful occasion for the local faith community, bringing together many people to celebrate, remember and farewell a church that has held a special place in their lives.
With beautiful weather and the generous support of many volunteers, the church was filled for the final Liturgy, led by Bishop Joe. Reflecting on the Feast of All Saints, Bishop Joe connected the closure of the church with the enduring faith and witness of those who have gone before us.
Following Mass, the community gathered for lunch, where Fr Frank Gordon, Fr Barry Craig and Jim Arnell shared reflections and memories. Photos from throughout the church’s history offered another opportunity to reminisce, tell stories and remember the people and moments that had shaped the community over the years.
It was a day of mixed emotions, filled with celebration, reflection and grieving, as the community gave thanks for Christ the King Church and the many years of faith and fellowship shared within its walls.
