The Catholic Diocese of Cairns, together with Centacare FNQ and Catholic Education Diocese of Cairns joins our local Nepalese, Tibetan and Bhutanese communities in prayer and solidarity following the devastating tragedy in Nepal.
For many families across our Diocese, Nepal is more than a distant country. It is the birthplace of parents, grandparents, relatives and friends, and a place that remains deeply connected to their identity and sense of home. As they grieve the loss of loved ones and witness the impact of this disaster from afar, we are called to stand beside them with compassion and hope.
In response, the Diocese is assisting in a fundraising appeal to support those affected by this tragedy. Donations can be made either through Friends of Himalayan Children, a locally established charity supporting relief and recovery efforts in Nepal, or through the Catholic Diocese of Cairns Disaster Fund.
We invite our parishes, schools and the wider community to unite in prayer and generosity. Together, we can offer practical support and remind those impacted that they are not alone.
